Description

Join wilderness medicine expert, Susan Purvis for a 2-day intensive backcountry medical course for outdoor recreationalists or wilderness trip leaders who venture into moderately remote and challenging environments. Be prepared for emergency situations that involve prolonged patient care, severe environments and improvised equipment. Learn what to do in a medical emergency when help is miles away and calling 911 isn’t an option. Class will be both indoors and outside. Materials, including textbook, waterproof field guide and certifications are included in the cost of the course. Successfully complete this course and receive a Wilderness Medical Associates WFA certification card and Anaphylaxis and Adult CPR certification cards valid for three years. Students ages 16 and 17 permitted to attend with parental consent form. Susan is a Lead Instructor with Wilderness Medical Associates and owner of Crested Butte Outdoors.
